Breath of Life Women’s Health & Birth Center Becomes Florida’s Only Accredited Birth Center

breath of life 6x

Breath of Life Women’s Health and Birth Center, a ministry of New Life Solutions, received its CABC accreditation status becoming Florida’s only accredited birth center.

Staffed by three Certified Nurse-Midwives, specialists in women's primary and gynecologic health care, Breath of Life has become known for its sensitive, confidential and loving personal care.

In addition to birth center maternity services, women's health care from adolescence through menopause and annual well-woman exams are offered. This summer, Breath of Life celebrated five years of serving the Tampa Bay community.

What is the significance of the CABC Accreditation for Breath of Life Women’s Health & Birth Center?

Accreditation is the mark of quality. When a birth center is accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC - www.birthcenteraccreditation.org), the childbearing family can be confident that the center has demonstrated adherence to standards of quality above that of basic licensure and that the center's care is consistent with the standards of the American Association of Birth Centers (AABC - www.birthcenters.org).

The CABC is the only accrediting body whose goal is unique to birth centers. Other accrediting organizations review a variety of health care

facilities. The AABC Standards reviewed are: Planning, Organization, Administration, Facility, Equipment & Supplies, Quality of Services, Staffing & Personnel, The Health Record, Evaluation of Quality of Care, & Research Activities. Accreditation is seen as a symbol of excellence to not only the consumer but to insurers as well.

Many insurers currently require accreditation for reimbursement, and the trend among managed care providers is also to look for accreditation. The CABC is the only birth center accrediting body whose site visitors are specifically trained to perform a visit in a birth center and whose review panels have first-hand knowledge of the philosophy, purpose, and operation of birth centers.

It is dedicated to the promotion of quality care through a rigorous process of evaluation and accreditation.
