A Life Saved from a Mistaken Visit

lovenotesIn her teen years at River Ridge High School, Jennifer's life was something out of a Taylor Swift song: The quiet freshman with braces crushed on the dreamy Royal Knights quarterback who, to be honest, couldn't have picked her out of a wallflower lineup. She watched him date girl after girl, all pretty and perfect. Jennifer didn't think she'd ever have a shot with Philip the jock.

Philip graduated in 2006 and Jennifer didn't see much of him after that and didn't really think about him, either. By the time she graduated, she was a young lady and her confidence had mounted. She started taking classes at Pasco-Hernando Community College.

By then, Philip was long gone from her mind. So when she ran into him at a local college pub, she was surprised. Even more perplexing was his reaction. He scooped her into a hug, like a best friend he hadn't seen in 10 years.

"Whoa … lonely much?" she asked with spunk.

"Yeah," he said.

She pushed him away. He knew she wasn't going to be easy to impress — and he loved that. They talked at the bar. He told her (to her surprise) he remembered her from high school.

Six months later, in January 2010, Jennifer was pregnant. Convinced they couldn't be parents, the couple frantically searched online for a clinic. The drive was somber. When they arrived, they were met with warmth. What was supposed to be a clinic was actually a Christian outreach center. That night, they decided to keep their baby boy.

"It was a miracle that we thought we were going to an abortion clinic, but we ended up there," Jennifer said. "It brought us to religion."

Philip, who was raised Catholic, and Jennifer, who was raised without religion, made a commitment to the Catholic church. After Philip proposed on July 5, 2010, they chose to abstain until marriage. The couple married at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

The Right Choice

I came to the Pregnancy Center in 1987 when I was 14 years old. It was actually my 2nd time there. I had come about a year earlier but I chose through the counsel of my family to abort that pregnancy. This time I listened to your counselor and made the decision to keep my baby. I was so young and scared. She spoke to me about the Lord. Most of that went right over my head, but I did listen and knew there was a life inside of me, especially since just a year earlier, I had taken one away. Eight months later my beautiful Samantha was born. Of course I was still a little girl myself. So we grew up together as I struggled through my adolescence, my education, past abuse, and addictions. I always loved my daughter. No matter how hard or what the struggle was, I knew keeping her was the one right choice I had made in my life. I wasn’t always able to express it to her because I was so lost in my life. By the age of 23 I found myself being the mother of 3 daughters and God in His grace finally opened my eyes to hope. When I surrendered my life to Jesus everything started over for us. Samantha who had always struggled right along side of me and who had to grow up way to quickly because of me, gave her heart to the Lord and so did her sisters! We all started attending church and we grew up and grew in our faith together. As soon as Samantha could, she started serving in the church and ministering. Still serving, she’s grown up and has married a Godly man. The Pregnancy Center helped me choose life. I can never say thank you enough for being there, and for sharing the message of hope and the love of Christ with me.

“There is no way I can have this baby…”

istock_000006883105smallSuspecting she was pregnant and after seeking prayer and counsel from a local pastor Maggie decided it was time to find out her options and came to our Center. Maggie echoed this statement that we hear everyday in our counseling rooms. She and the baby’s father were contemplating abortion because they had real concerns about having a child who could have been hurt by their lifestyle of prescription drug abuse. They knew that their choices were now impacting someone other than themselves.

After seeing their baby and it’s heartbeat through the free sonogram we provided, Maggie chose life for her child! Praise God!

Maggie’s Life Coach not only educated her about the options for the baby but also shared with them the Gospel and a new life in Christ. Through this life affirming message they knew God was using this baby to help them grasp the seriousness of their decisions in making the necessary changes in their lives.

We helped Maggie find an OB/Gyn who then confirmed that she and the baby were doing great. Praise the Lord! Maggie is now drug free, continuing to see her doctor and is taking prenatal, childbirth and other classes at our Center. She is very committed to seeing real changes in her life and a healthy future for her baby.

We rejoice with Maggie as we hear her testify, “I believe God used our baby to save my life.”
