Walk For Life 2009

What a celebration of life it was on Saturday, May 9th as we gathered together to put our feet into action to Save Babies and Change Lives in this year’s Walk For Life! And what a beautiful day it was!

Thousands of people from over 112 churches joined together to raise funds for moms and babies by walking, roller-blading, bicycling, running, pushing babies in strollers, walking dogs, riding in wheelchairs, or hoisting their little ones onto their shoulders for a better view of the excitement!

We are so thankful to all of you who put your “best foot forward” and raised pledges and donations to support the ministry of the Pregnancy Center of Pinellas County and New Life Solutions as we reach out to those in need throughout our county and beyond. Together, we have raised $413,000 in pledges – and in a “downturned” economy, with your efforts and prayers, God showed that He is faithful to those who love Him and are obedient to His call to save the unborn. Thank you & Praise God!

It takes more than a village to pull off a Walk For Life in 3 locations. It takes hundreds of Church Liaisons committing 2 months of their time to promote the Walk and recruit people to sign up, get pledges and join us on Walk day. They hang posters, share the Walk video, and pass out as many pledge forms as possible to anyone they see. Their dedication to the cause is one of the reasons this Walk is and has been so successful over the years. We couldn’t do it without our fantastic front line foot soldiers – our Walk For Life Church Liaisons!!

There wouldn’t even be a fundraising Walk without wonderful Corporate Sponsors! These pre-event donors get things started months before the Walk ever happens by planting seeds that help to underwrite the costs and expense of the Walk. Please take a few moments to review the list of Sponsors for this year and utilize these businesses and their services when you have a need - and thank them for taking a stand for life! Share the list with a friend, and then encourage them to join you next year as you Walk!

On the day of the Walk, many volunteers arrive at the sites before the sun comes up, and begin putting up tents, tables, chairs, etc. They set up all the different stations including Registration, the Prize & Display areas, Face Painting, Food Services areas, and even the stage where the Praise Band provides us their wonderful music to get us going! The sun was shining brightly and the breeze gently refreshed us at each of our 3 Walk sites all over Pinellas County, and all hands were “on deck” as we started receiving walkers who arrived early in the morning to save babies and bless families! It takes a lot of those hands working together and we are grateful to every one who gave of their time and talents!

Extra special thanks go out to our 104 Dinner Club members who raised $1000 or more and includes our 23 Super Life Savers who raised $2500 or more!  We are truly blessed by this dynamic group of go-getters who collectively raised $205,000 in pledges! We celebrated their accomplishments with a delicious dinner party and prizes at the Feather Sound Country Club. We encourage you to join them next year and become a Life Saver Dinner Club Member! It’s easy to do, and has great eternal rewards as well!

We’re already looking forward to next year and hope to see you next May on Mother’s Day Weekend, as we join together once again to Save Babies and Change Lives for all eternity!

Together, we’re in it for life!
