Just Keep Praying
By Nancy Lathrop, Center Manager Pinellas Park
Molly* came into the center crying and distraught because she had a recent abortion and was scared to death that she could be pregnant again. She shared her aspirations of going to culinary school and becoming a chef. Molly had been in a relationship with someone who she confessed was not a good influence in her life. And when she told him she may be pregnant he broke up with her and left the state.
Molly felt overwhelmed but very open to the Gospel message. She listened and agreed with all that was said, but was not ready to commit her life to the Lord, yet…
When Molly was told that the results of her test were positive she sobbed uncontrollably. Her pain touched me and I cried with her. She didn’t want to go through the anguish of another abortion, but couldn’t see how it was possible to consider any other option. Molly was not agreeable to have a sonogram and when she left the center I was concerned we might lose contact with her and not hear from her again. I knew I had to trust God to take care of her and our job was to continue to pray for her.
I called Molly often over the next 2 months but she never responded. God had allowed this girl to penetrate my heart so deeply that I continued to pray for her. One afternoon I received a call from her grandmother who informed me that Molly had been incarcerated. She also happily shared the great news that Molly was attending Bible study in jail and had committed her life to the Lord. We both praised God as she said, “I know God put Molly in jail to save her and the baby.” I assured her that Molly was more than welcome to come back and take classes at the Center upon her release.
Molly did return to the Center and we rejoiced with her over what God had done in her life and that she had chosen life for her baby. Molly is doing very well. She is living with a caring family friend who will continue to help her even after her baby is born. She is attending church and when asked what I could do to best help her, she replied, “Just keep praying. I am grateful for all the prayers for me and my baby.”
Thank you, Donors, for your ongoing prayers and support for the thousands of Molly’s we have ministered to over the years.
