I Make My Own Choices

sarah
“At 16 I found myself pressured by my boyfriend to do things I never imagined I would do. I hadn’t planned on becoming sexually active but went along with his ideas and choices leaving me feeling incredibly empty. I decided I never wanted to feel that way again so I broke up with him and decided to start over.  Through a friend, I heard about More2Life and chose to volunteer for them.  I began to realize what big decisions I had been making and all the consequences I could have experienced.  As a new staff member of the M2L team, I now get to share my experiences with other teens helping them see that their choices impact their futures!”
-- Sarah, age 19

Are you concerned about the future health and success of your children and grandchildren?

One of our most effective outreaches, the More2Life Youth Development Program that teaches abstinence to teens, faces major cutbacks effective October 1, 2010!   Unfortunately, the new administration in Washington reallocated 2010/2011 Teen Pregnancy Prevention dollars to comprehensive sex education programs that present messages that contradict our ministry’s core values. Funding for our program has been slashed and we are left with no funding as of October 1st!

For the past 11 years our More2Life Youth Development Program in Pinellas County has been invited into the public schools to present a “risk avoidance/wait until marriage” message which happens to parallel God’s plan of purity, sexuality, and marriage.   Last year, nearly 9,000 students engaged in our presentations totaling over 65,000 students since 1999.  Praise God! We also partner with churches, YMCAs, R’Clubs, Alpha House, the Pinellas County Jail, the Health Department and many others. Our curriculum focuses on goal setting, decision making, consequences of at risk behavior, healthy relationships, refusal skills, boundaries, and starting over.

In addition, our educational program has been proven through a four-year evaluation to significantly increase middle and high school students’ ability to avoid the costly consequences of sex by helping to reduce teen pregnancy and STD’s which result in high personal and social costs.

More2Life presentations will continue this fall with the help of volunteer presenters currently being recruited and trained. But we need $30,000 to keep More2Life operating through the remainder of 2010!  We are currently working on additional Grants, Foundation and Donor support to raise $120,000, the minimal annual budget needed to continue this amazing program.  If you have a heart to help ensure the success of the next generation please pray about making a special financial gift to help keep our More2Life Youth Development program alive and impacting and equipping thousands of teens to live healthy and Godly lifestyles.

Thank you for your prayers & support!
